Older means wiser, right? Imagine if you could go back and give some of that wisdom to your younger self
When you take stock of the goals you’ve achieved or those you wish you’d achieved at your current stage in life, it’s so tempting to wonder where you’d be if you could have shared lessons your younger self didn’t know yet.
Invest in Apple?
Read more self-improvement books?
Go backpacking in Nepal?
We asked our Facebook community what they’d tell their 18 year selves and picked some our favourite answers.
See how they compare with what you’d tell yourself.
(Or maybe even imagine what your older self would tell you now.)
Kayla G – Spend more time with your family as you’ll miss them when they’re not around. Don’t cry over boys, your soul mate is out there waiting for you and keep doing what you’re doing, life is going to be everything you dreamed and more so relax and enjoy the ride 🙂 🙌 💜 Oh and wear more sunscreen on your face! 😂
Wade B – You did the right thing by finishing the hsc getting a job and buying your first home within 2 years. You rock, 18 year old Wade
Anastasia E – Life has bumps, ride them, learn from them!
Anon – He’s not going to Europe. Things will get worse, and that gives you a place to build more good from. You will be okay. Ask for help and don’t bottle it. You are studying the right thing at the right place and you were right to leave journalism.
You are fabulous, you’re about to meet so many wonderful people. Stop flirting with boys who don’t return your affections. You shouldn’t have to try so hard. You are worthy.
Danni A – Dump him and go study! Stop partying so much and look after your body!
Chloe F – Don’t hang around with the people who bring nothing good to your life, don’t stress- everything works out in the end, family are the most important and go travelling!! 💛 🙌
And here’s a couple from our favourite speakers…
Sir Richard Branson had this to say to his younger self:
“You should never see being different as a flaw or think that something is wrong with you. Being different is your biggest asset and will help you succeed.
Above all, always remember to have fun. As you grow older you will realise just how important it is to do what you love and love what you do. Don’t waste your time doing things that don’t excite you. Find your passions and go out there and grab at them with both hands. Life is for living and try to enjoy every day.”
And Tony Robbins shares what he’d have said:
It’s never too late to create the life you should be leading
More than any rock concert, Tony Robbins’ firewalk weekend is like no experience you’ve ever had. You’ll smash barriers & learn tools to create the life you know should be leading. And the closer you are to the energy centre of 8,000 at Qudos Bank Arena, the bigger the impact. Right now when book you a Ruby Ticket, you’ll receive a Free Upgrade to VIP – up close to the action! That’s $900 bonus value – but only for a limited time.
